Monday night is the sixth annual Charity: Ball fundraiser for Charity: Water, an amazing organization bringing clean water to the developing world. Lot’s of parents will be out having a great time in NYC while their kids are having a normal quiet evening at home with the babysitter. Why not use this opportunity to help your kids understand the importance of water and why your going to the Charity: Ball by reading them Clean Water for Elirose? Remember the whole book is available online for free, so there’s no good excuse for not reading it to them.

Change the World with a 12-pack

From the very beginning, Clean Water for Elirose was about educating and empowering. The topic of the book was clean water, but the goal is to empower kids (and their big people) to make a difference in the world through small acts. In the book, kids help Elirose by sacrificing luxuries, fundraising and using their voice. The book itself was my way of using my voice/writing to share a story with others. Today, I want to ask you to join that effort to empower others by me empowering you.

I’d like to ask you to join my tribe* of world changers and send you 12 copies of Clean Water for Elirose. Your job is to take these 12 books and use them as your secret weapon to change the world. Sell them at your church and donate the profits. Give them to your kids school. Donate them to the library. Give them as presents to all your nieces and nephews.

And even if you don’t want the books, consider telling someone else that you think might, because it’s about more then a book, it’s about a movement.

I’m asking for $20 for 12 books. If you can’t afford $20, contact me anyways and I’ll get you the books. Let’s make a change.

Tis the season for giving, and we’re doing our best to give away big! First of all, we’ve started posting all donations from book sale profits to our Charity:Water page.

Then there’s the big one, from Dec. 1st to Dec. 15th we are giving away one copy of Clean Water for Elirose each day. And it’s simple to enter:

Let’s Build a well in 2011

2011 has been a great year for Clean Water for Elirose. We did a mass printing and have shipped literally thousands of books out to individuals, churches, schools and water organizations. The stories we’ve heard back have been extremely exciting about children and families being spurred to action by the story of Elirose. As I’ve mentioned, all profit from book sales (above administration/printing/shipping costs), will go to funding clean water wells in the developing world. This year, we’ll be donating all profits made from sales in 2011 to Charity:Water with the goal of raising a full $5000 for the total cost of one well. I’ll be posting several of the donations that have come in through out the year to our Charity:Water page, but we still have a ways to go. And we need your help.

If you already have a copy of Clean Water for Elirose, would you consider taking a picture or video of your kids reading it or sharing some thoughts on what lessons they’ve learned from the story? I’d like to share stories during the holiday season to encourage others to pick up a copy of the book for their loved ones. Would you be interested in selling the book as a fundraiser at your church, school or community group? Would you be willing to write a blog or facebook post about the book and encourage your friends to pick up a copy? Please leave a comment or email Ariah at info@cleanwaterforelirose.com to help out.
